The Organic Beekeeping Project is a **local initiative developed under NATURELDER's leadership to advance organic beekeeping in the Mersin region**. It aims to improve beekeepers' access to knowledge and strengthen cooperation among organisations working in the sector.

The project was developed in partnership with the Erdemli District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the Mersin Beekeepers' Association and Eğriçayır Organic Honey and Bee Products.

## Project objectives

- Support the development of organic beekeeping in Mersin.
- Develop beekeepers' knowledge of honey bee health and biosafety.
- Strengthen knowledge sharing among beekeepers, experts, public institutions and local producers.

## Project activities

The project held a **Honey Bee Health and Biosafety Training on 11 December 2021 at the Alata Horticultural Research Institute**. Sponsored by Eğriçayır, the training brought beekeepers together with **Prof. Dr. Levent Aydın**.

The training focused on sharing knowledge about honey bee health and biosafety as part of the project's aim to develop organic beekeeping.

## NATURELDER's role

The Mediterranean Natural Life Association led the development of the project and brought local partners together. It worked with these partners to organise the training and connect beekeepers with specialist knowledge.

## Who is it for?

The project is aimed at beekeepers in the Mersin region and producers interested in organic beekeeping. It also welcomes those interested in sharing knowledge and experience in the field.
