We made prickly pear desserts with women producers in Taşobası

In Taşobası, Tarsus, we demonstrated how prickly pear can be used in desserts, sharing another way for women producers to make use of unsold fruit.

We joined women producers in Taşobası, a neighbourhood of Tarsus, for a practical demonstration of making desserts from prickly pear. Together, we explored how the fruit could be turned into another product, and participants had the opportunity to taste the desserts.

The activity focused on making use of prickly pears that could not be sold as fresh fruit. We showed women producers how the fruit could be used in desserts. The demonstration covered preparation, cooking and serving, introducing different culinary uses for a local product.

The gathering was part of the knowledge-sharing activities we continued after our Rural Development with Local Products Project, carried out in 2016–2017. By sharing the experience developed through the project with women producers, we aimed to highlight ways of using prickly pear beyond selling it as fresh fruit.
